Spanish at Haynes Bridge
Students have the option of entering Spanish at the beginning of any school year if they have met the testing requirements on their CRCT or ITBS the previous year. Below, you will find an overview of each of the Spanish classes offered.
Spanish 6During this introduction to Spanish, students will be provided a general overview of basic language concepts. They will acquire hundreds of new vocabulary words, as well as an understanding of grammatical features of the language. Students will learn about a variety of cultural concepts, with emphasis on holidays and customs of the target cultures. Students who complete Spanish 6 will be recommended for Spanish 7B or Spanish 7C, based on their academic performance.

Spanish 7BStudents who did not take Spanish 6 may enter the World Language program by taking Spanish 7B. This class uses the En Espanol textbook and provides an introductory look at basic language concepts. Students who pass both semesters of Spanish 7B and continue in Spanish 8B may be elligible for high school credit.
Spanish 7CSpanish 7C is the continuation of Spanish 6. It is assumed that students have mastered the standards that were taught in Spanish 6. The course uses the En Espanol textbook and provides a more rigorous and intense look at basic concepts of Spanish. Students who pass both semesters of Spanish 7C and continue in Spanish 8C may be elligible for high school credit.

The Accelerated Spanish Program |
Spanish 8BSpanish 8B is the continuation of Spanish 7B. The course will use the same textbook and progress to more advanced topics. Passing both semesters of Spanish 8B after completing Spanish 7B will earn one year of high school credit.
Spanish 8CSpanish 8C is the continuation of Spanish 7C. The course will use the same textbook and progress to more advanced topics. Passing both semesters of Spanish 8C after completing Spanish 7C will earn one year of high school credit.
Spanish 8NCWe are pleased to offer Spanish 8NC for the first time during the 2012-2013 school year! This course is for students who are beginning their Spanish studies for the first time, and it will follow a similar plan to Spanish 6. No high school credit can be earned through the completion of this class.

Haynes Bridge is please to be the only school in Fulton County that offers an Accelerated Spanish Program, which is new for the 2014-2015 school year. Interested students who meet the program qualifications are invited to apply at the end of Spanish 6 for participation in this program. In the Accelerated Spanish Program, students will take all of high school Spanish 1 during their seventh grade year, and they will take all of high school Spanish 2 or 2 Honors during their eigth grade year. These students will earn two years of high school credit if they pass all semesters, and will be able to take high school Spanish 3 or 3 Honors when they enroll in high school.
